Following completion of conceptual evaluation of 17 different wastewater treatment options for the City of Claremore’s 20-year treatment needs, Garver began performing preliminary engineering, design, construction support, and operations start-up assistance for expansion of the City of Claremore’s existing Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP).
During the conceptual evaluation phase of the project, several options were considered including two separate discharge points with variable effluent criteria. Technology upgrades considered for the existing fixed-film trickling filter facility included conventional activated sludge, extended aeration, and integrated fixed-film activated sludge and membrane filtration processes.
Garver’s preliminary engineering report identified improvements necessary to increase the WWTP’s treatment capacity to 3.5 million gallons per day and allow for a custom-designed biological nutrient removal process.
Major liquid train improvements include flow equalization basin liners and valving, lift station course screening, headworks fine screening, vortex grit removal processes, retrofited primary clarifier mechanisms, conversion of trickling filters to roughing filters with new distribution mechanisms and media, new biological nutrient removal activated sludge process, retrofit secondary clarifier mechanisms and a new secondary clarifier, re-lift and recycle pumping, and a variety of process instrumentation and control upgrades.
Major solid phase improvements will include primary sludge pumping, RAS/WAS pumping, separate gravity thickening for primary and secondary sludges, thickened sludge pumping, retrofit of existing and addition of new aerobic digestion, and dewatering sludge mechanisms.
Garver is also assisting the City of Claremore with bidding and selection of a qualified contractor to construct the improvements. Additionally, Garver will assist the City with construction phase support services that will include on-site construction inspection, operator training, and plant start-up assistance. |
