State Highway 18
Roadway Improvements and Bridge Replacements

Client: Oklahoma Department of Transportation
Location: Lincoln County, Oklahoma
Project Cost: $4.9 million

Project
Garver designed improvements to State Highway 18 that included horizontal realignment and bridge replacements over the Deep Fork of the Canadian River and its overflow channels. Garver completed the design for 1.3 miles of roadway improvements and two bridges in six months as requested by the client.

The bridge design included replacing the structure crossing the main channel of the Deep Fork River with a bridge consisting of a triple, 125-foot span, precast beam superstructure on drilled piers. Two existing relief structures to the north of the main river channel were replaced with one overflow bridge consisting of five 90-foot precast beam superstructure spans on drilled piers.

Soil conditions necessitated the design of wick drains and embankment surcharge in the high fill areas to accelerate the predicted settlement issues.

Client Testimonial
"When last minute design issues developed, Garver acted quickly to incorporate the new design solution in the final plans in a timely manner."
