North Huntsville Industrial Park

Client: City of Huntsville
Location: Huntsville, Alabama
Project Cost: $1.5 million

The City of Huntsville developed new phases of the North Huntsville Industrial Park using cutting-edge environmental designs focused on preserving the sensitive attributes of the property. Garver joined forces with the City of Huntsville's planning and engineering departments, the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), and a group of engineers, environmental scientists, and land planners from the Center for Economic Development and Resource Stewardship (CEDARS) in the completion of this project.

The project blended conventional design practices with accepted conservation practices to produce a design that facilitated the groundwater recharge of the aquifer and minimized the impact of stormwater runoff at the site. Additionally, multiple areas were designated as natural areas and were incorporated as part of an on-site walking trail system, an integral part of the comprehensive design. The design team included nearly 50 developable sites, while maintaining half of the area as natural, helping to retain the area's rural character.
