Little Rock National Airport
Runway 18/36 Extension

Client: Little Rock National Airport
Location: Little Rock, Arkansas
Project Cost: $17 million

Project
The Runway 18/36 extension project consists of a 1,100-foot extension of the general aviation runway located on the west side of the airfield. Extending the runway resulted in the extension of two taxiways, relocation of a perimeter road, construction of the relocated runway safety area, installation of associated lighting and navigational aids, relocation of existing water and sewer mains, and relocation of a city street.

Garver dealt with significant design constraints to utilize the property and minimize cost. The project is bounded on the north by an existing neighborhood, with access to the 1,800-employee Dassault Falcon Jet also passing through the area. The proposed design incorporated aged utilities, streets, and storm drainage, including demolishing and removing certain aspects of the area while maintaining access to area citizens.
