Ada Municipal Airport
Parallel Taxiway Realignment

Client: Oklahoma Aeronautics Commission
Location: Ada, Oklahoma
Project Cost: $5.5 million

Project
On behalf of the City of Ada, the Oklahoma Aeronautics Commission shouldered a project to realign and reconstruct the parallel taxiway for Runway 17/35. Rather than running parallel to Runway 17/35, it moved diagonally away from the runway and incorporated an unusual arc at its midpoint.

Garver provided services to straighten the taxiway and rehabilitate deteriorating pavement sections. During the design, Garver discovered that the existing taxiway was a primary surface violation for Runway 17/35 and would negatively impact the precision approaches being designed by the FAA. Lowering the taxiway caused Garver to rework the entire terminal apron, make adjustments to the electrical system, and reconstruct the fuel farm.

In addition to replacing the airfield's electrical vault and installing Medium Intensity Taxiway Lights along the full length of the new parallel taxiway, the airfield development includes cutting-edge Light-Emitting Diode taxiway signs. This was Oklahoma's first application of LED airfield signs.
